欧洲议会于上周通过新法，强制规定2024年起，欧盟境内所有智慧手机、平板电脑等电子产品的充电接头，一律採用Type C规格，预计将会对一向坚持使用Lightning接头的苹果公司造成巨大影响，今天我们就来从国外新闻报导学TOEIC测验相关英文吧！

Apple must change the connector on iPhones sold in Europe by 2024 after EU countries and lawmakers agreed on Tuesday to a single charging port for mobile phones, tablets and cameras.（就在欧盟国家和议员于周二同意手机、平板、相机使用单一充电接头后，苹果必须在2024年前改变在欧洲贩卖iPhone手机的连接头。）

电子连接器英文怎么说？

connector的意思是「接头」，来自于动词connect，有「连结」的意思，字尾加上「-or」就成为名词，在此指的是「连结器」。若要表达「连结到某个物品」则需要用介系词to来接连结的对象。

Can I connect my printer to your computer?（我能把我的印表机连接到你的电脑上吗？）

Your flight arrives at 12:30, when it connects with a bus service to your hotel.（您的航班于 12:30 抵达，届时将有接驳巴士接您到入住的饭店。）

connects with用来表达「接驳」的概念，注意介系词要用with来连结接驳的交通工具。另外connecting flight则是代表「（转机的）班机」。

There’s a connecting train service between the airport and the city.（机场和该市之间有火车联运服务。）

而加上字尾「-tion」则是名词变化connection，表达「连结」的抽象概念。

The electricity company guarantees connection within 24 hours.（电力公司保证24小时内通电。）

若是要描述插头连接「松脱」，则可以用loose来形容。

No wonder your charger isn't working. There's a loose connection in the plug.（难怪你的充电器没办法充电，插头接线松了。）

charge的各种用法

charging port代表「充电口」，顾名思义，动词charge有「充电」的意思。

She drove the car round the block to charge (up) its batteries.（为了给电池充电，她开车绕着街区转。）

片语on charge用来表达「处于充电状态」，使用动词leave则有「保持某种状态」之意思。

Is it all right to leave the battery on charge overnight?（让电池充一整夜的电可以吗？）

而在TOEIC测验中，charge有两个重要的用法需要特别注意，分别为charge「收费、索费」、in charge of「负责、主导」。

charge做动词时，代表「向某人收费、索费」的意思；相反地，常用片语free of charge就是「不收费」，charge在此当名词使用。

The bank charged the commission to change my traveler's cheques.（银行收取了更换我旅行支票的手续费。）

They fixed my watch free of charge.（他们免费修好了我的手表。）

in charge of在TOEIC测验中经常出现，代表「负责、主导」的意思。

Who will be in charge of the department when Sophie leaves?（Sophie离开后，谁来管理这个部门？）

port原是指「港口」，后来延伸出「进／出口」的意思。

We had a good view of all the ships coming into/leaving port.（我们可以清楚地看到所有进／出港口的船只。）

名词portal有「网站入口」的意思，形容词portable则解释为「轻便的、手提的」，如a portable radio／phone／computer「可擕式收音机／行动电话／手提电脑」。延伸出「可转移的」意思。

Your phone number is portable if you decide to move to a different home or office.（如果您决定要搬家或换办公室的话，您的电话号码是可转移的。）
